What is the difference between commercial gym equipment and home equipment?
In one word: Durability. Commercial-grade gym equipment is made tougher, using thicker guage steel, high-quality components and engineering. Unlike domestic grade equipment, where the equipment is used by a regular family, commercial-grade equipment is used by many different people, each with different weight capacity requirements and different bio-mechanics. To be able to last the time, the equipment must be capable of withstanding tougher use and more regular use.
Another factor to consider is the warranty. Using domestic-grade equipment in a corporate or commercial setting will usually void the warranty. In general, domestic equipment is warranted for up to 1-2 hours use per day, whereas corporate gym equipment is warranted for up to 4-6 hours use per day.
